The Ketsugo Goju-Ryu book series began with the first book, Shodai Jay Trombley, about the founder of Ketsugo Goju-Ryu. Volume 2 begins the outline of the system itself, the system that started in Okinawa with Seikichi Toguchi's Shoreikan Goju-Ryu. Ketsugo Goju-Ryu was established in 1974 by Shodai Jay Trombley and continues today.
Volume 2 includes pictures and descriptions of the following katas: Kihon Ichi, Gekisai Ichi, Gekisai Ni, Gekisai San, Hon'nogeki, Saifa, Genshin, Isshoni San, Sanchin, Seiunchin, and Sepai. It also contains techniques and many self-defense moves that are part of the KGJKA curriculum.

Shodai Jay Trombley describes the legacy of a martial artist, Shodai Jay Trombley, a Vermont native and U.S. Marine Corps member who received a black belt from Seikichi Toguchi in 1960, and went on to create his own karate system in America. Shodai founded the Ketsugo Goju-Ryu system in 1974. This book aims to capture Shodai's thoughts, history, and the perspectives of his students. Shodai's influence on karate is evident in his unique approach, combining elements from Shoreikan Goju-Ryu, Kobudo, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, and Judo. The narrative also explores Shodai's Marine background and emphasizes the importance of preserving and passing on his karate legacy.
