Junior Karate Programs

Benefits for young people in karate:

We welcome and encourage children to train with us.  Kids today need a break from the overload of external stimuli.  Karate training provides them with focus, self-control, discipline, and courtesy.  They learn to respect others and challenge themselves to achieve strength of body and strength of character.  The instructors at Oliver Karate have years of experience training children and teens.  Sensei Ashley Oliver spent her teaching career instructing grades 6-8, and she herself began her training at age 11.  We love seeing young people rely on themselves more than they do on technology and entertainment and the “things money can buy.”  The confidence children can gain from karate training spills over into all aspects of their lives: these kids can handle the stress of school, peers, bullies, and home life.  This is so important during the years preceding adolescence.

Martial Arts:  Not Child’s Play

Karate is a wonderful family activity, but it requires focus, maturity, and motor skills that very young children have yet to develop. Age 8 is the youngest we begin training in our regular karate classes.  However, we now offer junior programs that give younger students the social and motor skills they need, while incorporating the excitement of karate they crave!
